"A portrait of my child, once a week, every week, in 2013."

Cheeky smile, your favorite pants, your favorite window seat.  Mama has put up a late portrait this week, and you've been extra needy for both of us, not wanting to sleep in your own bed or take your naps when you're supposed to.  Your papa and I think it's because you know the baby is coming soon. We love you so much and sometimes it's even a little heartbreaking to know you might be going through a transition, but we're here for you and know how good of a big sister you're going to be.

  1. AWWH she's so beautiful, just like you.

  2. thank you - both of you! so happy I was able to get it up, even if it was a bit late.

  3. It took a second for this photo to load and just seeing her hair poke out made me smile.

And the wedding pictures? I don't even have words.

  4. Super cute expression on her face :) xx

  5. Look at that GRIN & the pony tail is killing me too! So so cute, Kate!

  6. Oh my, she is a darling... and will make the most amazing big sister oh, so soon! x

  7. That top knot is just sweet sweet sweet. x

  8. Such a cute top knot, and that cheeky grin!

  9. Such a cute photo. Funny that you say you think she knows the baby's coming and all will soon change. Polly was exactly like this before we had Emilia and it felt a little heart breaking at the time but she loves being one of the big girls now... she's just one of those kids that is more in tune with things going on around her and a bit sensitive to change.

Easter Weekend

Hello! Happy mid-week to you. This is the roll of photos we shot over our Easter weekend, and oh what a wonderful weekend it was. It was so nice to have family here to visit - even if the weather was cooler than we anticipated! We visited the redwoods in Felton, ate vegetarian burritos, went to the epic shoreside in Montara, and the brewing company in Half Moon Bay. Our hearts are full and our home is feeling quite empty now ;)

As a side note, I've found a renewed love with film. This is a post for another time, but it bears mentioning here! There has been much on my mind re: photography, and hopefully this will be the space I can share that.

For the curious, all the above were shot on a Nikon FM10 with Fuji Superia 400 speed film.

(silly photo of me saying, "whaaat?"  by the husband)

Hi friends. I wanted to take a minute to catch up together and fill you in on a few new things! To anyone new to our space, thank you for visiting and I'm glad you're here. You may have noticed the look around the blog has been much simpler and clean. It's something I'm trying to do not only in just the blog, but with my life itself... a bit of a spring-cleaning, if you will. My Facebook feed filled with "friends" I haven't talked to in ages, a twitter name that no one could pronounce or understand, blog columns and categories I couldn't keep up with, even pressure to post when I know I should just be enjoying my time with my family. The list is seeming never-ending for a lot of us out there, and I just wanted to be honest and say that I too have gotten "stuck" one time or another, and here's a few things I did to streamline my way out of it:

Made It To Another Weekend : The Table

Oh, weekend. We are so happy you're here. It's been a doozy lately. I won't put you through the pitiful details, don't worry-- but I'm just happy to exhale a little bit and am welcoming these days of togetherness with open arms. PS- look at me using unfiltered iPhone photos in a blog post. Who am I? Sometimes I don't even recognize myself. Truly a measure of just how exhausted I really am both mentally and physically ;)

And while I've been seriously down and out in every other area of my life, we've actually been doing some pretty cool things at home. I'm so proud of Sofia and her desire to soak up new information, to learn, and to think of me as a pretty cool "teacher". I'm so in awe of everything she does. But this is all part of the inevitable fact that these kiddos of ours are growing up.
Most days we'll do some kind of worksheet, practicing our letters and cutting skills and getting to color.... other days we'll just spe…
