winter : days at home

One of my most treasured memories about winter is the time spent cuddling indoors.  When we're all together, you can usually find us hanging out in the bedroom: taking naps, getting in tickle-fights, or turning up the tunes and having a dance party.  Sofia will usually request to "fly" (belly on our feet up in the air!) and her shrieks and giggles are enough to make me wish those moments would last forever.  These photos prove it to me even more each day - our little girl is growing up.

Do you have any favorite indoor activities?

Maybe a book together on the couch, cocoa by the fire, or late-night snuggles...  all perfect if you ask me!

  1. Beautiful pictures Kate, love that black and white one of Sofia! I love having days like these with my little family!

  2. ohmygosh ohmygosh ohmygosh KAAAAAATE!!!!!!! These pictures are the. best. That top left one... the expressions on Sof's and Erick's faces. SO MUCH LOVE. I can't wait to have my little one here for family snuggles :)

  3. I found your blog via Che & Fidel - I love your beautiful photos! I'll be starting the 52 week project soon (hopefully!)

  4. What breathtaking family. We've become a Lego's all over the floor sort of family. The forgotten bits can be treacherous though.

  5. Beautifully captured moments. That sounds like a pretty good way to spend winter days..

  6. Beautiful moments like these are what we live for!

  7. oh how i miss winter days. here in miami we don't get those. from time to time i do crank u the ac and pretend it's cold. we like to snuggle on our bed, read books and also snuggle on the couch with homemade popcorn and watch movies.
    lovely shots.

  8. snuggles.

lots and lots and lots of snuggles.

  9. aw, these made me smile. thanks! our latest favorite activity is snuggling up by the fire on these cold winter nights!

  10. The photo of your husband and Sofia cuddling is a perfect blow up and put above the fireplace photo.

Easter Weekend

Hello! Happy mid-week to you. This is the roll of photos we shot over our Easter weekend, and oh what a wonderful weekend it was. It was so nice to have family here to visit - even if the weather was cooler than we anticipated! We visited the redwoods in Felton, ate vegetarian burritos, went to the epic shoreside in Montara, and the brewing company in Half Moon Bay. Our hearts are full and our home is feeling quite empty now ;)

As a side note, I've found a renewed love with film. This is a post for another time, but it bears mentioning here! There has been much on my mind re: photography, and hopefully this will be the space I can share that.

For the curious, all the above were shot on a Nikon FM10 with Fuji Superia 400 speed film.

The Long And Short Of It

Hi, friends. How was your weekend? After having non-stop rain for nearly a month, we finally received a short break in the El Niño weather to head to the coast. Even though it's not in our backyard, I still feel like twenty miles to the beach is a good compromise. It really is lovely here and it makes me happy to see the girls so at home in the sea.

This week we are gearing up for Easter and some very special visitors -- my Mama and my sister! It will be the first time Mom has seen our new home or visited the Bay Area, so to say we are excited would be an understatement. We cannot wait. I've even kept it as a surprise from the girls, so I'm sure the look on their faces alone when they see Grammie and their Auntie will be the highlight of the whole trip.

What about you? Any special Easter plans or crafting?

We made some hot crossed buns for the first time last year, and I'm hoping I can bake a little something special this year too. We're going to try this recipe a…

(silly photo of me saying, "whaaat?"  by the husband)

Hi friends. I wanted to take a minute to catch up together and fill you in on a few new things! To anyone new to our space, thank you for visiting and I'm glad you're here. You may have noticed the look around the blog has been much simpler and clean. It's something I'm trying to do not only in just the blog, but with my life itself... a bit of a spring-cleaning, if you will. My Facebook feed filled with "friends" I haven't talked to in ages, a twitter name that no one could pronounce or understand, blog columns and categories I couldn't keep up with, even pressure to post when I know I should just be enjoying my time with my family. The list is seeming never-ending for a lot of us out there, and I just wanted to be honest and say that I too have gotten "stuck" one time or another, and here's a few things I did to streamline my way out of it:

• Keep as many things cons…
