bump : week 20

I've settled on the idea of cozying up somewhere warm for next week's photos - preferably with a bowl full of marshmallows on hand.  Being miserably cold isn't fun for anyone, and besides, I've been craving those little bags of jet-puffs!  I know for both Erick and I, it's hard to believe that baby is already halfway cooked, and maybe it's something to do with it being the second time around but, this entire journey seems like it's going at lightning speed.  Some days, I even forget that I'm pregnant (then I realize I could use a nap at three in the afternoon, and am brought back to reality - sigh.)  On a more exciting note, the second of January we're going in for our last scan before baby arrives!  Quite differently than last time, we still don't know yet if this little one is a boy or a girl.  We're definitely anxious to know who this tiny person inside of me is, but have been thinking we might like the idea of life's greatest surprise even better...

Would any of you be able to endure the suspense?  It's such a tough decision!

    1. It's so hard, isn't it? Knowing our little girl before she was here was such an amazing feeling... it makes it difficult to choose! I'm trying to think of fun "S" names for you that go with Sunny + Scout ;)

  4. Beautiful, woman. Crossing the weeks off like crazy!

We waited to find out and I would do it again. After a really complicated birth the reveal created this beautiful moment that refocused all of the energy in the room. I was and am so grateful for it. BUT, it is hard to wait. And I am imagine much harder the second time since you know how wonderful these little babes are.

  6. I'm really happy you are sharing these! I absolutely love the black and white photo. I love surprises but I'm terrible with them. I've daydreamed once about waiting to find out, but I know I would drive myself crazy by not knowing.

  8. You gotta try waiting at least once! It's the most amazing and emotional surprise of your life. Though I may not have the patience the second time around...

    1. That's how I felt - it's hard to switch to being surprised after knowing the first time. It's going to take a lot of self control to not ask our tech on Wednesday, but I'm going to stay strong this time! ;)

  10. Wonderful photos! We didn't find out the gender of my son, and it was a fun surprise. I'm not sure what I'll do for baby #2 (which has not been conceived yet). I liked waiting... but I keep seeing all of these adorable 'gender reveals' that make me want to find out. Congrats on 20 weeks! The next 20 will fly by.

  11. I'm a planner so I had to know. I couldn't imagine not knowing that the little one punching my bladder and kicking my ribs is my little boy!

And 3pm is my wall, too. If work could end at 3 each day, life would be grand. At that point I'm ready to strip down to bare essentials and curl up in a blanket with a book and a heating pad on my spine.

  12. it's so unlike the first time round, yes! you are so busy with #1 there is no time to count the days or dream of baby things.. every pregnancy goes faster and faster! perhaps a good thing we didn't go round again - I would have blinked and been in the delivery room! we never found out the sex for any of ours, I just loved the surprise after all that hard work :) but then I love surprises in general so, er, no surprise there.. ;) stay warm! x
