UNCLE STEVE

I didn't run to post anything about the news yesterday because honestly, I couldn't hold myself together.  I was choked up with tears regarding the news of his passing and still find myself trying to collect my thoughts around it all.  This company has done nothing but completely transformed my life, and feel honored to work for them every day.  I think about how much the future has already been touched by Steve- education, music, technology, entertainment, special needs accessibility... the list goes on and on.  We will always carry his vision with us.  It will always exist.

My journey started in the fall of '09.  I was in a bad spot in my life, trapped in a relationship with a man that didn't believe in me, and ultimately unhappy living my every day life.  Then, I had the genius idea that I could somehow work for the company that I've loved since I'd been a little girl.  I made it happen.  Through Apple I've made some of the best friends that I've ever had, I've finally felt accepted to be the crazy, passionate "dreamer" that I've always been, and it has cultivated a generation where anything is possible.  I met my husband through this company.  We fell in love and had a baby, who is now my entire life, my entire world...  I know it seems cheesy, but I can't stop thinking about it that way.  This man who will never know how much he's impacted my life, and we've never once met, but it feels like he will always be Uncle Steve.

Sofia, known to our Apple friends as the "iBaby" will most definitely know of him that way.  I'm going to make sure she knows that the iPad she's learning to read with, and the iPhone she FaceTimes with her Papa on are all because of the single greatest innovator I've ever known.  Uncle Steve.  Thank you a million times over for what you've made possible, for everything you've taught us, and for always following your heart.  You've put in so much to this company, and it has done nothing but selflessly give back to the world.  Enriching lives.  I'm proud to say that I get to do that every day.

Easter Weekend

Hello! Happy mid-week to you. This is the roll of photos we shot over our Easter weekend, and oh what a wonderful weekend it was. It was so nice to have family here to visit - even if the weather was cooler than we anticipated! We visited the redwoods in Felton, ate vegetarian burritos, went to the epic shoreside in Montara, and the brewing company in Half Moon Bay. Our hearts are full and our home is feeling quite empty now ;)

As a side note, I've found a renewed love with film. This is a post for another time, but it bears mentioning here! There has been much on my mind re: photography, and hopefully this will be the space I can share that.

For the curious, all the above were shot on a Nikon FM10 with Fuji Superia 400 speed film.

The Long And Short Of It

Hi, friends. How was your weekend? After having non-stop rain for nearly a month, we finally received a short break in the El Niño weather to head to the coast. Even though it's not in our backyard, I still feel like twenty miles to the beach is a good compromise. It really is lovely here and it makes me happy to see the girls so at home in the sea.

This week we are gearing up for Easter and some very special visitors -- my Mama and my sister! It will be the first time Mom has seen our new home or visited the Bay Area, so to say we are excited would be an understatement. We cannot wait. I've even kept it as a surprise from the girls, so I'm sure the look on their faces alone when they see Grammie and their Auntie will be the highlight of the whole trip.

What about you? Any special Easter plans or crafting?

We made some hot crossed buns for the first time last year, and I'm hoping I can bake a little something special this year too. We're going to try this recipe a…

LET'S CATCH UP, SHALL WE?

(silly photo of me saying, "whaaat?"  by the husband)

Hi friends. I wanted to take a minute to catch up together and fill you in on a few new things! To anyone new to our space, thank you for visiting and I'm glad you're here. You may have noticed the look around the blog has been much simpler and clean. It's something I'm trying to do not only in just the blog, but with my life itself... a bit of a spring-cleaning, if you will. My Facebook feed filled with "friends" I haven't talked to in ages, a twitter name that no one could pronounce or understand, blog columns and categories I couldn't keep up with, even pressure to post when I know I should just be enjoying my time with my family. The list is seeming never-ending for a lot of us out there, and I just wanted to be honest and say that I too have gotten "stuck" one time or another, and here's a few things I did to streamline my way out of it:

• Keep as many things cons…
